How to Complete Your Year in Review
It’s that time of year again!
You know, that end-of-the-year bustle where in between holiday shopping, too many desserts, and in person or virtual family gatherings, you realize you haven’t achieved half of what you set out to do.
You look at your vision board or planner and sigh, wondering if you’ll ever reach your ideal weight, ideal income, or ideal relationship goals.
After another challenging year, it’s easy to jump to the negatives – the things you haven’t completed, forgot to do, or messed up.
Luckily, this is the time of year where any day can be a fresh start.
Where you can dream big and think about who you’re becoming in the new year.
Using the Power of Serendipity to Achieve Your Goals
If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that life doesn’t always go as planned.
Many of us woke up to a new reality without a job or steady paycheck.
We were forced to change our social habits, workspaces, and holiday celebrations.
We suffered countless, unnecessary losses at the hands of our administration. Both from violence and the Coronavirus.
2020 was also a year of serendipity.
We learned to stay open to changing work habits, responsibilities, opportunities, and regulations.
We learned to pivot our businesses to adapt to virtual work or changing client needs.
We awakened to new opportunities to improve equity and justice in our work and personal lives.
We shifted our goals to accommodate new ways of being, new ways of working, and new ways of learning.
As much as we tried to hold on to our old ways of being and our old goals, the Universe had other plans for us.
For better or worse, we’re in a different place in 2021 than we were when we started 2020.
We can lean on the power of serendipity to help us stay open to new opportunities and chance encounters that can realign us to who we’re meant to be.
How to Create Healthy Habits and Boundaries for Your Goals
You’re a dreamer.
You have big goals and an even bigger vision for the world you want to create.
You’re on the path to living your purpose, and you know what you need to do to get there.
You set strong, ambitious goals year after year.
You start the year off strong, motivated by your big goals, but a few months in, you start to slow down.
You don’t feel inspired to reach your goal.
Maybe you made some missteps along the way. Maybe it’s harder than you thought it would be.
Maybe your friends and family are distracting you or telling you to stop.
Maybe it’s just not meant to be.
Or maybe, you need a new routine.
How to Get Back on Track with Your Goals
Have you ever set a goal for yourself where, for a few weeks, you stick with it, you’re moving forward, you feel great, then suddenly, you realize you’ve gone so far off track that you can’t remember when you stopped?
I always feel that way about exercise! I’ll be plugging along each day on my Peloton, tracking each ride, feeling good about myself, then suddenly – it’s been a month since my last workout. What happened? Where did the time go?
It happens to the best of us.
When you’re on a journey to find and live your life purpose, it’s easy to get off track. Living in devotion to your purpose is not easy. You may not know all the steps you need to take. You won’t always see the path ahead of you.
And in those moments, it’s easy to let self-judgement or fear or self-doubt derail your progress.
The good news is that as easy as it is to get off track, it’s just as simple to recenter and get back in alignment with your goals.
Using Your Experiences to Achieve Your Goals
We all have goals for ourselves. Some may be bigger than others, but a goal is still a goal. It’s easy to make goals, but it’s not always easy to achieve them. Everyone has their own way of setting goals and mapping a plan of action. Some are list makers and some just go with the flow. Within the middle of goal setting and a course of action, it can be easy to lose motivation, which can then lead to procrastination. This leads to us thinking that we can’t reach the goal we set in the first place. No matter where you are in the scheme of goal setting; I am here to tell you, you can do it!
How A Vision Board Can Help You Crush Your Goals
There's actually something to those magazine collages you made in summer camp as a kid.
Are you a Goal Getter? If you're anything like me, you love setting and achieving goals.
I'm super competitive with myself, so I'm always thinking about what I can do next; how can I improve? How can I reach even further?
But for some of us, goal-setting doesn't come as naturally.
Luckily, there's a simple tool you can use to set and achieve goal with ease. And I bet you already have all the supplies around your house.
